I've just installed a new ceiling mounted electric heater in my garage. I'm interested in door activated switches that turn the heater off or on as a door is opened or closed. Has anyone done this? Where did you get the switches?
what type of garage door opener due you have some brands have a AUX switch that you can get for the type of garage door opener you have.
Or a poor mans Idea would be to get an screw in outlet adapter for the light build on the garage door opener and have this trigger a Relay that will turn your heater on/off when the Light for the Garage door is on. I would use a relay for powering your heater though and dont wanna draw 2 much from the garage door.
Any hardware store should be able to get you the supplies you need.
Grainegr or an electrical supply house sell limit switches although you will need to have the limit switches control a contactor to operate the heaters if they use a line voltage thermostat.
Before any recomendations could be made, would need to know more about your set up, how big in kW is the heater, is it 220v, is it controlled by a contactor or "across the line" thermostat? IF you are unsure usually there is a schematic on the back side of the terminal cover of the elements.
