the brightness is per individual. some see as too bright. some say not bright enough. the power wattage of my HID lights is actually less than factory, just way more efficient. i think alot of vehicles have to bright low beams from the factory. thats my opinion. others say having a truck like ours is to big and dangerous because they cant see around us. my lights look just like the mercedes benz sl500 lights. some say they are to bright and should be banned. does that mean that all car manufacturers should stop the production of hid lights?? i am not arguing, just stating the facts.

Racerx, I understand what you are saying and agree with most of it. My concern is that they are probably illegal for a reason. I don't think that the powers that be just decided to make them illegal because they were bored.

I am also looking for some brighter lights for my 2005 X. The stock bulbs are pretty much crap from the factory. I think that I would like to keep mine legal, though.

The only legal upgrade is the Sylvania Xtra visions for the 9008

Thumbs down

Unless you do a projector swap from another vehicle with OEM HIDs, they are just stupid and do nothing but throw light in every direction and blind people that are heading in YOUR direction. Not the smartest move in the book if you ask me, but as long as YOU can see right?

Its do-able... its not easy or cheap... but its doable and can be done correctly.

I'm with turboale...I know that racerx7775 is very happy with his, but my experience with lighting has shown that the lense...not the amount of light output...it more relevant to "good" lighting.

my used 2000 throws out plenty of light. As bright as any headlight on the road. I've read many complaints about the stock headlights but if mine are like everyone elses....i do not get it. Maybe i should go check my bulbs and see whats in there. I have a 12w H.I.D. for my bicycle and it's disapointing, only with the 30w halogen" high beam" in tandem with the H.I.D. does it light up the night. Oh, my bicycle H.I.D. burns more blue purple than the lights in cars that burn more white. And yes, everyone complains about my bike lights being too bright.

Thanks for your suggestion of the 9005's in the fogs!! Work very well. And if adjusted properly does not blind others,
Glenn

Smile light ouput for HID's

redmangh, i am with you. the hid kit is an exact fit for the factory light housings. which means unlike what turboale says, the light coming from my HID's, is directed out the exact same way as the factory lights. except my HID's are way more efficient and have more light output/lumens, than the factory bulbs. there was no modifications to the factory housings. i simply removed the stock bulb, installed tie HID light, connected the ballasts, high beam controller, power and grounds. and there we have it.

matt m. you said that the lens is more responsible for good lighting. well if i have the factory light housings, and a more efficient bulb, how do i not have "good lighting"?
since we live in the same area, maybe we should meet up? bannins sound good? i'll let you see for yourself how bright my lights are, then maybe you will change your opinion about them. i dont know how someone gives an opinion about something unless they expierience it for themselves. plus, i'd love to see your truck, looks cool...

racerx7775...I'll gladly meet up with ya. I work a block from Banins', so that's great. Let's figure out when.

I was not talking necessarily about your system...I'm sure it pumps out tons of light.

Perhaps I was a bit unclear. Some folks (like a friend of mine) have old, yellowed, crazed headlight lenses and figure that it will give them bright light by simply putting in a 1 Gillionwatt bulb. As you know, the lense is what sets the pattern for the light, so if it is yellowed, or simply a bad design...more light won't always need "good" light.

OK. I read pretty much the whole thread and I have a headache now. What I take from it is I will get some Sylvania Silverstars. But what fits in my 2k X again? 9005's or 9007's? Just straight up, no discussion. What replaces what I have now?

Thanks..

Drivers beware !!. Original wire harness gets cooked with blue lights . unless you spend$ 500.00on true H.I.D with a ballast .I have been runing these bulbs ever since I had my excursion and have gone to 4pair of wire harness plugs,UNTIL I WENT WITH THE REAL DEAL (true H.i.D)
