fuel filter help

I found once on here some really good deals for some fuel filters. I have a 2003 f250 7.3l and need a fuel filter. Will this one work ?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1-New-Fuel-Filter-Ford-7-3-99-04-Powerstroke-Diesel_W0QQitemZ8026298013QQcategoryZ33660QQrdZ1QQ cmdZViewItem

Or is there somewhere else I should buy?

fleetfilter.com

what filter do I need to order from there?

That should work. Fleetfilter has a cross reference chart.

Boy, I's be al little leary of this guy. He uses a lot of words to try to make it sound as if he is selling an OEM filter but it boils down to a no-name filter. I have heard of some nightmare stories about filters that "meet OEM specifications" causing some big $ repairs.

Fleetfilter.com sells the WIX filter which is also the NAPA filter and we know they work without leakage or other problems.

Anybody bought these from eBay that can say what brand they are for sure?

Based on the low cost of Filters in the grand sceme of things, I don't think trying to save a buck by using a cheap brand (possibly sub standard quality) is where I would try to save a buck. If your cheap filter allowed contaminants through that would of been stopped by a better filter, these savings won't hold a candle to the risks associated with not protecting your engine.

Just my opinion of course... .

Always ask an ebay vendor, "What is the country of origion?"

If they can't (or won't) tell you, pass on them.

What if you get them and they are made somewhere like (insert your least-favorite third-world country here).

Yea, the one that's known for it's quality control......

Use the best fuel filter you can get. Cheap insurance. This is NOT a place to cut corners.

I buy my fuel filters from one of our forum's sponsors, Geno's Garage. I get the Racor filters for $16.95.. (you ebay filter is $11.95, so you are only saving $5 every 15,000 miles..) Not worth the risk.. Geno's Garage is a good company.. if you ever have a problem with any of their products, they will work with you to fix the problem.

My thought exactly. You got to much invested to use cheap Filters.

ahh should have read more before I bought. I just bought 4 of these things

this can't be any worse than not changing the filter right? It has never been changed and the truck has 50k+ miles on it

Not really. A bad fuel filter that doesn't seal well in the fuel bowl can let particles go right in to your injectors and potentially destroying them. A good filter may restrict fuel, robbing you of power or eventually not allowing the engine to run at all, but won't pass the garbage to the rest of the fuel system. Priced out injectors lately?

He said money back guarntee. I don't want to get a negative out of this and I have already paid. I emailed him telling him that I read that I need to be carefull with stuff like this. I also asked him what country they were from. Maybe he will return my money before he ships them.
