Tear Down Coming Up!

Well It's Finallly Time To Tear Down The Turbo On All The Assembly's On Top Of My 97 Diesel. An Oil Leak Has Gotten Worse, And It Is Leaking On Top Of The Engine, Towards The Back. Would Anyone Know If A Dye Test Is Necessary To Find Leak Before I Start Tearing Parts Off To Find The Location Of The Leak? And If Not, Will I Be Able To See Where It's Leaking Without The Engine Running? I Would Like Any Ideas Before I Start This To Get A Heads Up. Thanks In Advance, Jeff.

Give it a good cleaning with simple green and water to flush the old stuff out. Then it should be fairly easy to spot the leak after a few minutes of idiling.

your best places to look for that leak are the oil galley plugs on the back of the head apx 1" diameter, turbo pedistal, ebpv actuator, or hpop lines going into the heads.

mine the hpop line boss oring fittings came loose and were leaking there.
