Info on Service Engine light

The truck is a 2006 PSD 4X4 CC Lariat with 7500 miles. Service Engine light came on Sunday when I was returning from a trip to Southern California. Got it back from the Ford dealer this morning. They had it for about an hour. A fuel sensor faulted and caused the light to come on. The reason the fuel sensor faulted was due to me " topping off " the fuel tank level. My Bad! I can get several extra galons ( 3 or so) of fuel in the tank, beyond where the fuel dispenser shuts off, by slowly dispensing the fuel. Just a bit of info I wanted to pass on to everyone. If you are doing as I was then you may encounter this situation.

the same thing happened to my '05 in june.

i work for mercedes and all are cars will do that once the gas or fuel tank is full if you try topping it off it will set off the vapor canister and may even make the unit not function
