well while driving in to work this morning my engine decided it was time to reitre. on of my connecting rods snapped and started making somr really unpleasant noises thankfully i got off the road quick and got it shut off. not sure how much carnage was done but i may be looking for a new rear sump pan soon which as i remember is not fun. well gotta go time to start calling all the local parts sources and praying for the best. this couldnt have happened at a worse time either as i am currently shopping for a (uggh) minivan to accomadate a new addition to the family.
I hate it when those things happen! Keep us posted on the carnage.
The local self service yards have rear sumps now and then. I'd be tempted to get out some sheet metal and welder: rebuild/repair and add a little slosh control. Hmm, now I'm wondering if a front sump can be cut and flipped in relation to the flange...
Ebay has the rear sump pans for sale now and then. If you can't find one let me know, there are yards in my area that will have several to choose from, also have engines to choose from but shipping not worth it wherever you are.
well i have a few lines on motors trying to get the details straight on all of them as far as the rear sump pan i think i can salvage mine. but i have considered the cut and flip of a front sump before. if i was home (wyo)this wouldnt be an issue unfortunately im in kansas. it seems folks down here didnt buy 4 wheel drives in the 70's or if they did they have kept them very well hidden.
I'm gonna ask, where in Kansas? I get halfway through Nebraska (from Golden) in about 5 hours, love the higher speed limit. LOL
By this time tomorrow I should be in Cozad again, probably back in my own bed Saturday night. One of these days I'll make the trip just for fun.
trying to go through a few other sources before i have to go deal with the local salvage folks. engines round hear in salvage yards from what i have seen thus far are not well protected or covered.
