Question Changing Radius Arm 4x4

How hard is it to change a radius arm (driver's side) on an 84 F150. Specifcially getting the radius arm loose from the front axle. That's the only part I've never had apart.

Thanks.

never mind, I thought that you were just replacing radius arm bushings, not the whole radius arm.

No, I want to change the whole arm, not the bushings. My truck is lifted, so I have already ground the rivets off, and have grad 8 bolts holding my brackets on. The threaded stud end has a lot of corosion on it, and I am afraid that it will evenutall rust in two. So, I need to change it. The problem is I don't know how to take the arm loose from the front axle.

There are two bolts holding the bracket to the TTB arm. One is under the coil spring, so you'll have to take the shock(s) and spring off. The other bolt is underneath and you'll either need a 1/2 stubby air impact or an 8' breaker bar. It is a BEAR to get off. If you have a lot of rust, you're going to need penetrating oil and heat, too.

That's what I was afraid of, thanks for the heads up.

Just an update in case anyone looking for info finds this thread. I change my radius arm this weekend. Sprayed the bolts, that hold the radius arm to the TTB with penetrating oil, then put a little heat on them with a hand held propane torch, and they came right out. Not to big of a deal at all. However, as I mentioned my radius arm braket and coil spring wasn't any big deal to ge off, since I had removed them not to long ago. I also got my new arm from bronco graveyard.
