Do I need rear sump
Do I need rear sump
Hi Guys..I swapping a 460/c6 out of a 69 lincoln.into a 87 f150 2wd which has a 300 I6/ manual 4 w/od...I have a few questions I hope you can help me with.1. Do I need a rear sump oil pan for this swap? 2.Can I use the lincoln motor mounts..3. can I use either of the trans crossmembers or fab something out of the two. 4. I've read conflicting statements about going from efi to carb..some say take the cpu out..some say to work around it...What is the best way to get this carb engine to run in the efi truck..Thanks Daryl
You are going to need some engine stands to work with the 460, I would look for some out of a late 70's (or same year as yours if it was an option) truck running a 460. As far as the sump location goes, that would depend on clearance issues, again depending on if there were any factory applications. The tran mount is an easy fix, just make one work. To make a carbed motor work, it just needs a fuel line and spark. The trick is getting a clean line to your motor from the tank. If you use the EFI line, it is pumped and will need to be tuned down pressure wise for the carb. There may be what comes into play with your CPU...
