Question Blue smoke?

Okay I have not had much experience with diesel motors. I know how they work and everything just dont have experience, so what i would like to know is why does my buddys truck blow blue smoke. I am sure it is not a good thing. I was thinking injectors or somthing along those lines?

On startup that's normal...should clear up shortly after.

This is pasted from Steve Baz's web site--

Blue or blue/white smoke:

Caused by insufficient fuel or oil consumption. Normal when engine is cold or idling for extended periods. Excessive smoke could be caused by air in the fuel, contaminated fuel, loose or plugged injectors, worn or leaking injector o-rings, thermostat stuck open, oil consumption, or plugged crankcase depression regulator valve. Also PCM inputs such as MAP or ICP sensors.
