The other day while I was driving to work my speedometer suddently went cazy. It would jump around and never stay in the same place. About the same time my ABS light came on and the next day my check engine light came on. I have checked all of the connections and disconnected that battery to re-set the computer with no luck. My speedometer now just sits at zero, my odometer is not working and my check engine light and ABS light are still on. Is there a connection I missed that could be loose, or does anybody have any other ideas? ANy help is gratly apprechiated. Thank you.
I agree with Butch & Bill sure is showing all the symptoms of a faulty speed sensor.
If your in doubt, you could run this ride by your local autoparts store & have them scan the computer for codes to see if it'll confirm a faulty VSS. Most will do the computer scan at no cost, if your having trouble or the CEL is on.
As Bill pointed out, it's located atop the rear differential, held in by one 10mm bolt & clamp & is easy to change, if you like turning your own wrenches. Retorque the bolt to 25-29 ft/lbs.
