I Recently had some starting trouble that pointed to a dead battery. After replacing the battery and starter, I noticed a ton of corrosion around the battery cables, and solonoid. So, change 'um I did, and after changing out I got some wierd reading with my meter. Thinking it may be an alternater issue I first disconnected the alternator harnesses.
The battery disconnected is reading approx. 12V.
With the battery connected both Pos and Neg, it read approx 6.5V and was
dropping.
One by one I eliminated the fusible links on the solonoid and found that the one causing the drain was the black/orange link that feeds down to the alternator. I was getting a drain even with the Alt. harness disconnected!!
after changing out a couple of fusible links and a broken alternator wire, the battery was still being drained so I started pulling fuses. When I pulled the courtesy light fuse, the battery drain stopped.
Does anyone have any ideas??

Also consider this, what else is on that fuse, I own a 185 f-150 and had the same problem. It turned out to be the electric choke. The relay under the dash went south ( contacts closed) Draining my battery .I dont know whatelse is on your courtesty circuit, but also gives direction for another possiblilty. Good luck TR
