Same problem just hit me. I was driving along, and when I hit the gas, my air cut out. When I let off, it came right back. I figured I just never noticed the air giong down to allow the engine to push itself. Then I noticed it was doing it when I was barely on the gas. After we went to a store, we were welcomed to the air not working, at all. I turned off the Auto feature, then turned it back on, and it came blowing ice cold-okay, we know the compressor works. I too checked the fuses, they look fine. I don't know how to check the relay, though.
The rear AC is working perfectly, nice and cold, and very powerful.
Suggestions? I'd hate to take it to the dealer, because I'm really not a big fan of lying thieves.
While I believe you, it's really hard to find the 3 honest ones, when you travel for a living.
Also, to add to my problem...we noticed today that if we CRANK the AC and put it on the front vents, it only comes out the DEFROST vents, but it comes out of there hard. So...that leads me to think it's a switching problem somewhere, and not a blower one (but hey, what do I know about car AC systems?)

You have a vacuum leak. Most common location is the small black hose located between the battery and the firewall under the hood.
