360 Parts?

Hi guys, Wyotech student here so things have to be cheap lol. Im looking to finish my 69 truck project (at least get it in running stage) so I need to find some good parts cheap. I need a new crank, a stock 360 would be fine at this point, but if a larger stroke cam would work with stock rods and .030 pistons that would be great. I am porting and polishing the stock heads since I can do this in class, but I would like to upgrade the rockers, springs, and valves. Any good cheap replacements out there? Thanks for the help guys.

if i could find a cheap rotating assembly out of a 390 i would, but i need oversized pistons now.

the school is obviously made to sound better than it is on tv, i thought that there would be more focus on top end performance, but its not what i thought exactly. i do like the school though, i learned a lot, im starting the high performance part now and its only been the first day and i enjoy it a lot already. well thats my personal opinion.

I think eagle sells a rotating assembly for $1800. Otherwise as for new 360 cranks, it is going to be pretty scarce. Can it be turned? otherwise eagle does sell just 390 cranks i think.

the crank is turnable, but i would prefer to go new, or refurbished, i will have to shop around

as for the school, it depends what you are looking for, i believe it is worth it, i know a fair amount about new systems, driveability diagnostics, and other things, but no school can teach u everything, ive used what i have learned to fix real world problems, i feel that it is worth it.

my thoughts! the top automotuive schools are freakin expensive, uti, wyotech, sam. I went to northwestern ohio for 4 months, plenty of people dissed UTI, and thats where i was originally going to go. They only real knock i heard about wyotech was the professionalism, such as uniforms and clean shaven.

No one school teaches everything, they mainly get you started as an ENTRY level tech not a super master tech. I found a lot of it is learning on your own and self dedication.

i was able to obtain passing results in ASE testing for electricity and heating, cooling and ac. but i need one more year of work experience. Thats not going to happen as I am into cnc maching these days.

Your stock 360 has plusses and minuses. Yes, a 390 has more ci and more hp, but the 360 has lower compression and runs cooler. It all comes down to what you are looking for.

Do you want to scorch the track? Consider taking that 360 and turning it into a 410 (or a 428 if the block will take it).

Do you want a long run reliable truck engine with sufficient torque? Keep it a low compression 360/390 and add an RV cam to let the beast breath a little better.

Its up to you. What do you want this thing to do? run?, or RUN!?

oh, shes gonna run, dont worry bout that, one of the lovely things about my school is my accesibility to a flowbench, tube bender, dyno, and whole list of other goods (ie lost cost steel, etc). I am building a custom full stainless steel exhaust (including my own tri-y header designe) and porting and polishing the heads. I just wanna get her running for now reliably (and powerful of course, thats a no brainer) till i can dump the money for the good stuff (twin turbo, stage 3 edelbrock heads, stand alone engine control system, lightweight internals, 430 stroker kit, etc).
