Air intake Mod ?
I was hearing a sucking sound on my 1991 RV and after looking close in the dog house I noticed that tone of the tubes fell off a plastic coupling(name)?Anyway I removed this piece that looks like a pair of binoculars. The first thing I noticed is that the resriction is huge!!! They have 2 openings about 2 1/2" on one side with a venturi that goes down to about 1 1/4" and then flairs back to 2 1/2 inches. I decided that cutting the venturi off would help with the HP climbing hills etc as the 460 has a custom exhaust that is non restrictive and no Cat but still passes emissions. It didnt make sense to use big Throttle body and air intake hoses and have little air flow through this piece. Was this a good idea or bad and do you think it will help with milage?

A lot of vehicles have those strange restrictors. I would rather hear a little noise than have those restrictors. The ones I have removed have produced more "intake" noise. People have been removing them for many years. Ford had a tendency to constipate their engines both on the intake and exhaust. I have seen the restrictors on GM, and Mopar also.
