I am tyring to put a C6 in a 77.5 F250 4x4 with a married NP 205. The engine is a 400, there is no body on this truck. I got everything lined up and all 6 bolts started for the tranny and engine to bolt up. i can tighten the top 2 bolts all the way but the rest get too tight before being in all the way. i have lifted up on the tranny and on the engine and it still deosn't go. i know the TC studs are sticking through the holes on top but not yet on the bottom. Where is it binding or not sliding in? Or did i do something wrong? Thanks for the help.

It doesn't sound like your converter is fully engaged in the transmission. You need to pull the engine away from the tranny enough to spin the converter while pushing it gently into the bellhousing. It might take a few turns, but you'll know when it engages. Then everything should bolt right up.

If the engine you have was originally hooked up to a manual tranny, you may have a pilot bearing stuck in the back of the crankshaft. That will definately cause the problem you are describing, because the converter won't go in all the way...

Did you get the Torque Converter set into the transmission before you slid the transmission up to the engine?
That torque converter should be slid into the transmission, and rotated right and left until you feel ONE then TWO then the THIRD Click as the Converter slides into the Front Pump assembly.
IF you dont do it that way, you might wreck the front pump.
DId you put a new "Front Seal" in the Trans while you had the opportunity? That's the time for it.
Then the engine should bolt up to the Trans with no resistance at all. when the bolts are tight, then you can slide the torque converter forward to the Flex Plate and install the four Nuts.
If you cant make it work like I just explained, there is something else wrong. It's a good thing you dont have the body on the truck.
