Inline 6 to a 351W
1.)I know I'll have to change the engine mounts and swap the cooling system but what engine mounts should I use?
2.)I plan on using a 351W from another truck and rebuilding it before the swap. Is this a reliable engine, in your opinion?
3.) What about a 4 speed? I plan on replacing the tranny because I want to run about 400 hp to the rear wheels
4.) What 4 speed, if any, will match up to the existing drive shaft? I hope to run a Ford tranny because I know it will outlast an aftermarket piece unless it is equipped for the power?
5.) How about rear end gears? I have a good feeling the gears won't function right with that much power. The existing rear end has super low gearing to go with the 3 speed.
Any suggestions would be really helpful. I can understand all the tech stuff but since it is my first swap I wanted to get some other input. Any other reference would be really appreciated. Thanks a lot. GreenHornet79

In the cool still quiet of night you can hear chevies rusting away.
The 351W is excellent. Get everything from the donor truck that is related to the drivetrain. Motor mounts and perches. Trans crossmember ect. If your really going to drag, I recommend a automatic trans (small block C-6, if you can find one.). You'll be able to establish more consistent track times. If you really think 400 HP and stay manual and want to race, you should consider a Tremic trans. I might have mispelled that. The T-5 gearboxes they used in the mustangs couldn't handle 400HP and with a heavier body you shouldn't expect any better. If you can afford aftermarket heads there worth it. If you can't, you've got the best factory small block head made. Get me the cast numbers of the heads and I'll tell you how lucky you are.
Good Luck, Have Fun,
