EVR Question

91 F-150, I-6 engine. I have in my hand part # FOTE-A1A 9J459. I believe its the EGR vacuum regulator, sometimes called Vacuum solenoid. Anyway, when i hook a vacuum tester to the bottom of the 2 vacuum connections, it makes a funny sound(like a fart) on the top of it and wont hold vacuum at all. Is this normal? Thanks so much. Frank

I'd guess that its messed up. It's supposed to hold a vaccuum through one tube, then when commanded by the computer, to send the vaccuum through the other line to open up the EGR valve. I'd say hit up a junk yard. My 91 ranger and 95 f150 have the same exact part that you're talking about.

I believe it is supposed to work that way. It vents the control line to the EGR valve in order to release the valve. If the other one holds vacuum, it's probably working correctly.
