I started a thread about about the size of the crank pulley on a '01 Ranger 4.0 and got no answers and only 13 views. I have a friend that has a supercharger on his 4.0 and needs the diameter of the crank pulley so he can calculate the pulley size he needs to raise his boost to 8 or 9 pounds. He can't measure his because of hardware in the way and I bragged to him that I knew the world's best source of Ford help. I changed the thread title in the hope that more would view and someone might help.

I don't have a lot of info about chargers, but don't they change the pulley on the charger to adjust the boost?? changing the crank pully woud also change the drive speed for the p/s, A/c, alternator and water pump..
i was just wondering about the free sex part of it.I do have a 93 ranger but have no idea what size the crank pulley is ,i wood be willing to go out and measure it for you if you wood like me to
Yes they do change the pulley on the charger for boost adjustment, but the crank and charger run off eachother like a sprocket set up on a motorcycle. To calculate the amount of final boost he needs to know how big the crank pulley is, and that way he'll be able to determine what size pulley to use on his charger.
I asked around and apparently, it's just a little under six inches. I was told that the ohv and sohc 4.0L had the same pulley and can be interchanged if that helps any.

Thanks to all that responded. My friend needed the diameter of the crank pulley so he could calculate the pulley size needed on the blower to increase the boost to 8 or 9 pounds. Thanks again.
