what i recommend is searching for a while, you will find a great deal of information, and it will save us alot of typing, because we go over this type of stuff twice or three times a week.
some things to search for-
•kwik filter -or- 46637, 6637 (intake mod)
•gauges
•4'' exhaust, 5'' exhaust
•CCV mod
•Wastegate disable/unhooking the red line
on Banks products- they are very overpriced in our opinions. granted they are well made and work excellent together, alot of guys here can get the same result or even better in a customized package, for less than half of what you would have to pay for a Banks package.
that should get you a few good ideas, if you have some questions, feel free to ask.

I personally like banks but not the price...solution is ebay and this site for home mods. Air filters from anywhere else= expensive, the do it yourself 6637 mod from www.fleetfilters.com way cheaper. Ebay 4 in exhaust...about 306 delivered to you. 2000 needs the turbo blade upgrade= www.xtremediesel.com about 60 bucks. I would do the chips and stuff until guages like all these guys suggest.
Go with an intake mod, do a search for the Kwik filter or 6637 mod. I've got some pics in my gallery of the modification. Or, if you wanted to spend the money, AFE makes a good intake too.
Also, with the intake, you'll want to do an exhaust. 4" flows plenty for the Powerstroke, but as you can see, many of the guys have gone with a 5" system. I have a Banks system, so I can't give you any advice on a good one from one of our sponsors.
Once you open up these engines so they can breathe, they can make some big power.
It'd be a good idea to get some guages too. An EGT guage is the number first on that priority list, a trans temp guage if you have an auto, and I find the boost guage to be useful too.
After that, I'd get a DP chip, not a tuner. Like so many others, I've already wasted my money on a tuner (Predator, EDGE, SCMT, etc), and now I'm saving up again to get a chip.
Taking the CCV out of the intake will clean it up a lot and free up the intake. It's a mod that you do on your own, not something that you purchase anywhere.
Also, disabling the wastegate will allow you to build more boost and quicker. But, I wouldn't do it without the guages. A regulator or relief valve for the MAP sensor line is pretty common for those of us who have disabled the wastegate. I've got a relief valve, but will soon be replacing it with a regulator.
One more thing. Get yourself an extra CPS. They tend to go out at random times on these PSDs. Do a search for the "Blue CPS" on the forum and get that one.
I've got pics in my gallery of most of the mods that I have done. Feel free to PM me if you'd like more information.

Now, my personal preference is a chip. I have a tuner now, and wish I had gotten a chip instead. From what I read, the chips give better overall performance, and allow you to switch settings on the fly. As far as brands, the DP chip is my preferred one, but you'll find several out there.
Tuners however, have their merits too. Mainly, the ability to perform diagnostics and scan for trouble codes. Once I get my chip, I will be holding onto my tuner for this reason. If I could do it all over again though, I'd have gone with the chip and a dedicated code scanner. Some of the better tuners are the Predator, SCMT, and EDGE.
I'd do a search and some reading. Check the pros and cons of what each product has to offer, and make your choice from there. But, I'd still go with a chip.
Also, I'd do the exhaust first. I believe you'll get the most gain from an exhaust, and you can expand your system from there. It will also lessen the chances of your EGT's getting too high. My suggested order: Exhaust, Intake, Guages, then a chip and turbo upgrades. I might even do the guages first. Being able to watch your EGT's is a key component to keep these engines from frying.
A chip is a physical device that is installed into your truck at all times. You put it in there and leave it. It is installed with the factory computer and box, so there are no unsightly wires hanging around.
Tuners are what you plug into your OBDII port and it gives the truck's computer a different program. You do not leave it hooked up. You program the truck, then put the tuner away.
