Flowing like a river. I have a 77 F150 xlt totaly restored inside and out. I had the winshield replaced with new rubber when I had the truck sprayed. It was the only thing I had not done myself and man, do I regret it now. I hadn't really noticed a leak untill we moved to our new home which gets an average of 175 inches of rain a year. So shes leaking at the bottem corner on the passenger side. it appears that its coming in from around the glass. It puddels up between the rubber and the glass on the inside. Ive tried to isolate where it was coming from and removed the lock ring and sealed both glass side and body side with butyl from the mid point over and she is still leaking!!! Im wondering if anyone has had a similar leak and can help. Ive got brand new carpet and my floorboards have never seen rust! PLEASE HELP!!!!
I have the same problem when I put a cheap windshield in. You can buy a windshield sealer at most auto parts stores. I has a pointed spout on it and is put inbetween the seal and windshield on the outside.
Tam,
How good a resto did you do? Was there any rust at the top behind the seal? Do you have marker lights on top of your cab? Is the water puddling on your dash or is it leaking down the firewall into/onto the carpets? Does it make a difference whether your truck is moving or not? Our initial assumptions on a leak that cannot be easily fixed is usually the big problem. Do not try a patch on this repair. Remove the glass and start from scratch. Look for other symptoms. Find the path that the water follows. Glue the glass in, as if it will last forever. If this seems excessive, you'll probably get it right the second time. Nothing is more annoying and damaging as water intrusion. Damaged carpets, floorpans, foggy windows and moldy seats can devalue a vehicle worse than a smoking drivetrain. Get in there and knock this one out.
Good Luck, Have Fun,
