I am going to lift my 79 F-150 that I am restoreing Can anyone give me some pointers. Are some lifts better then others e.i. Skyjacker, trailmaster, tuff country... for the old Ford
if your planning on going 6 inches you should really get a drop pitman arm and some pinon shims. also shocks. and yes some lifts are a better name than others. good luck and have fun

Yes, the first one mentioned is a lot better quality than the last two (which are the cheapo brnads of the 4x4 world.) I personally would go with that brand. (In fact I'm going to when I replace the 3" Rancho system currently on the truck.)
If you get a drop pitman arm, you will also need a trac bar drop bracket (to keep the drag link in line with the track bar and prevent bump steer.) Then you will also need an extended drag link and extended track bar.
Plus you will need extended brake lines, front and rear.
All this is on top of the coil springs, radius arm drops, poly bushings, and rear lift (either blocks or springs, I recommend springs,) and shocks all the way around.
It's a little more expensive than the $400-$500 base price they quote you, more like $1000-$1500 to do it right.
