In essence, replacing the sensor is two steps. when you pop on a new MLPS and properly align it, the second step is to remove the old connector, and assemble the new connector onto the end of the wiring harness. I don't know the number of the TSB.. but the problem was identified in early 1995, hopefully Ford fixed all MLPS sensor and wiring problems after that.
They may have fixed the connector before that. When I changed mine my truck had the correct connector on it. The connector in the kit was if it needed to be converted from a rectangle to oval plug, or vice versa.

Also, I might need to change my TPS. Maybe that's my hard 1-2 shift problem.

Thats not necessarily true. The TPS sensor will only cause a code if it is out of range (0.9-5 volts is the range.) It could have a dead spot somewhere in between and cause irratic shifting. The computer takes the throttle position to determine how to make the line pressure. So basically, he could only have the throttle down a little, but instead of having 1.9 volts, there could be 5 volts being sent to the computer, which would mean your under WOT, which would make the line pressure high in the transmission, causing a hard shift.

I agree with changing sensors and wiring. My truck (95 F-150, 351 E4OD) has a shifting problem, but only sometimes. Somedays I can run the hell out of it in the mud, take it out on the road and it will shift smooth as silk. Other times, I could take it on the road and it'll have problems getting into second. Last time I checked, if the tranny was bad, it wouldnt have trouble sometimes, it would be messed up all the time. I'm going to replace sensors and see what happens, after I rebuild my Ranger engine...

FWIW,

My truck still has a problem. Happens very seldom. Basically I can floor the throttle, it'll downshift to 1st, wind out 1st then pretty much shift to neutral!

It'll shift to 2nd when I let off the throttle. It's MLPS or (now possibly TPS related). It only does it when the truck has just been started up, and only if it's been really damp out for the few days prior.......

When I changed the MLPS it stopped for the most part. Maybe it's a bad TPS now since you guys mentioned it. Or possibly just a damp MLPS connector.
