All new blocks are painted either red or black, depending on the company that you buy from. They don't paint with factory colors anymore. I think its because most of the people working on these engines don't know the year and the color schemes.
I believe n9lhm is correct. My 82 F100 has the blue paint. My dads 92 and my 95 have the grey. Sounds like 1983 was the year for the change from blue to grey.
Ok,Guy's reason i asked was because i got a boneyard motor out of a 92 150 which i saw the truck 92 that motor came from . I have a 92 150 which i bought new and motor is that grey paint. Also a 351 windsor that's same grey paint. Thinking maybe bone motor was out for somthing and they repainted blue. I will check casting #s Thanks
