I went and redone my license the other day and it says I have 20/40 vision, But I am positive I knew what all the letters were on the screen. Does 20/40 vision mean I need glasses?
no, 20/20 is "perfect" what 20/40 means is that what you can see at 20 feet, someone with 20/20 can see at 40 feet. Thats how this was explained to me when I was younger
If you want to fix your vision yes you will need glasses, although not from a legal standpoint yet, if it did get to that point you wouldnt be able to renew your license without glasses. You must have a terrible time seeing straight, my vision is 20/20 in my right eye and 20/30 in my left and dosent require glasses but I have trouble reading and such if I try to do it with only my left eye.
Actually I dont THINK I have a problem seeing, although I have had flash burn many times to my eyes. I do have problems with my eyes when wearing safety glasses and have headaches sometimes.
I just had mine checked during my physical for my CDL and they said it was 20/10. As I've gotten older I have a harder time seeing up close, but it seems to have sharpened a bit over distance. I guess my focal point has moved further away.
You people make me sick with jealousy!!! I go off my eye doctors scale - in bad way. For those of you who where contact lenses and understand the prescription number, mine is -9.0. Without my contacts I have to have my eyes about 4 inches from the page to read a newspaper. Be happy with 20/40!
I guess Il go to the eye doctor to see if I need glasses. Maybe thats been the problem with my headaches, but it dont feel like I have a hard time seeing.
