Found this link in the superduty forum, thought it was pretty cool, especially for those wanting to add switches while keeping the factory look. Was particularly interested in the High Idle wire that was referenced. Anyone know if this is a standard wiring or only for the 05+ http://www.powerstrokeshop.com/ Click on the installation link.
I don't know about the switches (since they are plug and play for the 6.0), but I have been looking at the high idle wiring for the last few weeks. According to the body builders books (https://www.ford-trucks.com/lc/lc.ph..._idle_mod.html) it will work on the 2002. It is listed under 2002-electricial-pto. You can go to this page and look under 1999 and see if it's listed. If anyone has done this on their 2002 truck I would like any input on this.

Well the swithes would take some modifications on the wirinig side, but would fit real nice in the existing cubby hole, would make for a clean installation of switches for anyone looking. I already have four switches in the ash tray. I am going to look to see if my truck even has the wires in reference to the high idle. Would be nice to have, especially when charging up batteries on a camper or trailer.
Did you check the body builders web page to see if it is on your truck? It says it will work on my '02 but I would like this comfirmed before I try it. A new PCM would be expensive.

Let me see if I can get you there. First click on the link that I posted above. Then click on 2003 Body Builder Layout. Next go to Publications at the top, this will make a pull down menu expand, then click on Body Builders Layout Book. Next you have a choice of years to click on. Click on 1999 Body Builders Layout Book and then on that page on Table of Contents. This should bring up a page with one of the listings being Electrical Wiring. Click on Electrical Wiring and then on on PTO Circuit Installation. This may (or may not) show you what you need to see. The diagram looks just like the one on the '02 (wire colors may be different, I didn't check). If you figure out how to make it work with just a switch and light, please let me know.

Sweet, that works, don't know how I missed it before, think I was clicking on next rather than looking at the table of contents. Anyway, I will let you know what I find out. Thanks,
It seems simple enough. You're just fooling the truck into thinking theres a pto attached and you want it to idle up to run it. Thats all done by connecting those two wires. I got the diagram for my 01 and the one wire was different, but the rest was the same.
Okay, so here is what I have come up with. On my truck and probably all of the NBS 7.3L with the auto. The included body builder circuits will only lock the T/C give certain conditions. On our 7.3L we don't have the convient battery charge wire to hook into, at least none that I can find. The BB diagrams show the Idle Control module in use for everything. I am going to call and find out if there is a wire to trigger for a high idle, as the PCM does have a high idle mode when warming up, hopefully there is a wire to activate it manually when ever you want. I know you can just tap into the pedal, but would like to stay away from that for safety reasons.
cangim, I was checking out the pto wiring diagram for your truck and found out that you have the same wires. heres the link to the pdf file, figure A is how you would wire yours with a switch https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...l/1999/180.pdf
twags6, I connected the wires and made sure all the requirements for the PTO engagement. Found out that on our trucks, it doesn't make it idle any higher, it probably just locks the T/C for the PTO engagement. You need the aux idle control to make it idle up.
