93 4.0 starting issues

I posted this as a reply to another thread, but thought I might start it as a new thread as well.

Parked my van last week, it was running fine when I parked it. The next morning I went to start it and nothing. It turns over fine, the fuel pump charges the fuel rail, but no spark. I changed out the plugs and wires, still no spark. I took the coil pack and ignition module to Autozone and had them tested. They both tested out fine. The check engine light does come on but I still have no spark. The guy at Autozone suggested the EEC or EFI relay. I'm really lost here guys. I'll check back here, but please drop me an email at landrus2@nc.rr.com is you have any suggestions.

Welcome,

download the Ford Service manual cd from:
use the '93 truck iso or .nrg if you have Nero cd burning sw.

http://www.fordcds.com/

EVTM section for Aero will have all wiring diagrams and troubleshooting
you need a hi impedance volt/ohm meter for troubleshooting.

perhaps some of the other forum members have a '93 evtm and can take you thru step by step diagnosis

EVTM is really necessary for identifying parts, wiring and pinout id and location

Welcome!

As I sugested in the other thread, I would pull codes (or have Autozone, ect pull them.) But I would suspect that it was the CKS or CPS that has taken a dump on you.

CKS...CPS ????? not sure what those are. If you are referring to the coil pack, all 6 coils primary and secondary circuits are fine.

ok, I reread the other post. I wondered about the crank sensor. Since the van won't run, I can't pull any codes up. And since I pulled the coil pack and ig. module, I had to disconnect the battery which erased any codes the ECA may have had. Do you have a quick test I can do on the crank sensor to see if it is toast?

Autozone and many other parts stores have inhouse parts testers, everything from alternators to sensors...call before pulling and taking in....
you can check for 12 v with just a simple bulb type tester to make sure you are getting power to ECU
