Horn Problems

Ok the problem is my horn doesn't work. Pulled off the steering wheel and touched the terminal to the shaft and it still didn't work(horn bar not the problem) Ran a jumper wire off of the battery to the horn itself and it works(horn not the problem) checked the fuses and they are all good. So my question is is there a relay for the horn on these trucks? I looked under the dash and all I could find was what I think were a couple of flashers. One was made out of plastic and the other tin. Thanks for any help.

Horn Problems

The horn relay is on the passenger side front inner fender. Should be just to the rear of the starter relay. 2 yellow wires and 1 blue/yellow striped wire on it.
The blue yellow striped wire is a ground from the horn switch. 1 yellow wire is power into the relay to close it and the other is power out to the horn or horns.
Try grounding the terminal that the blue/yellow striped wire goes to, and the horn should blow. If it does it is a good possibility that the grounding strap that jumps across the steering column rag joint is dead, common problem. So try putting a wire across the rag joint, touching thus electrically connecting the steering linkage on either side of it. If the horn works now you found the problem.
Let us know how you make out.

ps
Did you say you checked the fuse?

Horn Problems

Sparky I'm pretty sure you just figured out my problem for me. I just replaced my rag joint but and I saw the wire you were talking about but it was busted. Probably because the rag joint was busted in two peices and the wire was to tight. I didn't put two and two together because I put a new horn bar on the truck the same day and I hadn't had a working horn before. But if I had to bet my last buck you are on the money with your reply. Easy fix I'll just bust a nut loose on each side of the rag joint a couple of ring terminals, a short wire, and done! Thanks will post results.
