Hey guys, this is my first time working with a computer chip and I ran into some problems. First off let me give you a run down on my explorer. It is a 2002 Explorer Sport 4.0L with 4x4. The explorer comes with the security system that requires a transponder key. Well now to the fun part. I was trying to install an apten chip into my truck. I had no issues with the installation but ran into some problems when starting the car. There are 3 positions That I can chose from on the chip. 1.) Stock 2.) 87 oct 3.) 91 oct. When the xhip is set in stock it fires right up with no issues. When placed into 2 or 3 the explorer will not turn over. It looks alot like when you try to start the car with out a pats key. Am I just overlooking something or am I not able to uses this chip with my explorer? Also I am planning on adding a remote start to this explorer which I hope will not cause any problems. If anyone has any ideas what is going on, please let me know. Thanks
Have you called Apten since you purchased it from them?
Since you didn't buy a chip from us I don't know what was put on the chip and I can't tell you specifically what might be wrong. However, generally a no start with a Diablo chip (that's what Apten uses) means they used a 1 bank program and the code on your vehicle doesn't match the code on the chip.
Usually the mismatch is because your computer has been reflashed by a dealer and they didn't put a new decal on the computer. Call Apten and get them to support it.
