Heater Core Question

I have a 1992 Ford Explorer XLT that has been perfect (no major issues) until now. I'm hoping anyone can help. My heater vents starting blowing out antifreeze a couple days ago and I immediatly thought of the heater core but the weird thing is that it doesn't leek onto my passenger side floor and the heat still runs hot. I don't know if it is the heater hoses or if the heater core itself is just slowly going out, but I don't want to replace the core if its not the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Also, is it possible to get to the heater core without taking off the whole dash?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

This part is just about as cheap as it gets. I just bought one for my 91 at Autozone, and it was $16 and change. R&R is easy also. Just remove the hoses, take off the glove box door (makes life easier), remove the 4 screws and plastic cover from rear of heater core compartment and drop it out the bottom. Takes about 1/2 hour to do. Now is a good time to replace those heater hoses also. (add another 1/2 hour and a few choice words as you fight those factory hose clamsp)
So, don't sweat the small stuff, yours is probably leaking and the fix is cheap.

ya not too bad to get to just takes some time and watch the cut you get on your thumb when you take it out... dont drink b 4 ya do it you might throw a wrench. if you want to check it b 4 you replace it you can rout the heater hoses right back to the water pump bypassing the core to see if the leak stops but yull have no heat...lol best of luck

Installing the new one is easier if you have a 2nd person that can hold position the core from under the dash while you attach the hoses at the firewall.

I see you are new here but no need to post the same issue twice. You can always repost your original thread to get it back up to the top of the list for more help if you need it. Thank You!
