Hey All!
Just got done installing some 6x8 Alpine Type S speakers in my 2002 Ford F250 Powerstroke Diesel Super Duty Truck. I've installed the new speakers in the front 2 doors, but can't figure out how to replace the speakers in the back. The seatbelt seems to be in the way. I'm waiting on Crutchfield mastersheet intructions but am too excited and want to get it done to complete my system setup. Thanks for all replies!
I agree with the seatbelt thing... It does need to come off. In my 2000, I believe the piece of plastic on the floor that covers all the wiring also needs to come up; it sits over a tab on the plastic piece that covers the wall. After the seatbelt and that lower piece are off, the whole corner piece should pull loose. It's held on with those plastic tabs -- If you're careful when pulling, they wont break. If they do, you can get bags of them at napa or autozone.
Hope this helps,
Tom
One Problem with that torx head bit holding the upper part of the seatbelt in place. I used an electric and chordless drill and stilll couldn't get the bolt to budge. Any suggestions - I know it needs to come out to take the entire panel off. Thanks
Take a 3/8 ratchet with the torx socket and put it on the bolt (flush). Grab a large wrench, like 7/8's or 1 inch, and slide the box end over the end of the ratchet. Using the wrench as a cro-bar, break the torx bolt loose. I can't imagine an electric or cordless drill getting the bolt off. After that, pull the plastic straight off, towards you. It took about 10 minutes for me to change the rears...just got to get the torx bolt off.
