i have no juice at my 7-pin connector at rear of my truck. Its a 2000 f-350 dually 7.3l diesel. The fuse under the hood for trailer lights (#4) was blown. I replaced the fuse and still no running lights. Fuse has not blown. Brake and turns work great. The person before me removed the brake controller he had installed. Dont know if its related. I have a bed 7-pin and bumper 7/4 combo outlets. No running lights at any of them. Need lights badly. Maybe i should just tap into license plate hot line.
also whats the easiest way to wire fog lights at bumper? dont want to tie into headlight circuit like the instructions say. just want on/off at a toggle already in the dash. were is the best place to bring wires through the firewall?
I have a '99 F-250 Super Duty. I ran the wires for the fog lights throw the firewall just below the brake fuild res. (there is a black plug in the firewall , just drill a small hole in it.)
thanks everyone........i will do i temp repair till warmer weather. havent put a brake controller back in yet. waiting for a month or to install contoller.dont need it for my other trailers for now.I have heard they are almost plug and play. Found a grey connector down near hump. is this the controller plug-in??
As far as fog lights go, you are in luck my friend as ford has already included 4 wires that go through the firewall for customer accessories, check https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/topics/2000/append_wiring.html then click on the customer access circuits, there is also a page for the wiring that may help out with your running lights as well.
I have a 2002, f-150, Having problems w/ trailor tow package wiring, I have clipped off the 4 prong connector, i am using a tester, I have juice to the r/l signals, brown wire is running lights ( correct ) ? should i be getting juice there also? help rookie here.Thx......
found mine underhood blown. replaced but still not working. same with me..turns and brakes work fine. where is the one under the dash. i know where the fuse panel is. just dont know which fuse it is. 2000 f-350 7.3l
i know its(problem with) forward because my bed plug, and both bumper plugs have no running lights. the bed circuit is wired midway.
I just looked it up, and you were correct. There is a fuse #4 in the box under the hood that feeds the running light circuit, and the back-up light circuit for the trailer.
#4 fuse feeds a darkgreen/yellow wire that goes to a trailer running lamp relay, located in a instrument panel relay block. This I/P relay block is supposed to be located near the center of the instrument panel(good luck finding that).
The wire comes out of the relay as a brown/white, and then runs back to the trailer plugs. The relay is activated directly by the brown wire that feeds all the trucks running lights, so if they are working, that should be ok.
what will a relay block most likely look like?? rigid mount or hanging? so there is no fuse in the fuse cluster under steering wheel?
whats the odds the relay is bad??? if the fuse was blown i would suspect something from hood fuse to rear of truck?? time to trace the brown/white wire......... i hate wirings....... got a hot line with key on at the controller plug-in connector. i know its to feed controllers that are illuminated. so i would think this comes from the relay also. maybe this is just power to controller. thought i remember it working with the headlight switch though.
got my brake controller installed ok.plug and play 5 minutes!!!!! prodigy controller w/ brand specifc harness
what will a relay block most likely look like?? rigid mount or hanging?
I don't know. They didn't have a picture of it in the manual. If it has multiple relays it will more than likely be a black box with a cover on it.
so there is no fuse in the fuse cluster under steering wheel?
Not for the trailer running lights. It is weird though that the fuse for this circuit is under the hood, but the relay for this circuit is under the dash inside somewhere.
so happy........ with the aid of wiring charts , i found a wiring cobjob back at the connector up by the spare tire. someone cobbed in for the bed plug and brake controller.....alls good for now....
why is there 2 hot lines back at the connector with lamps on? think it was dark blue. that must have been for the controller for the brakes.
