Fuel filter/fuel question

I recently replaced the Motorcraft 4350 carb with a new Holley 600cfm on my 78 F350 with a 460 motor. When I got everything hooked up and the motor was running I was surprised to see very little gas in the Spectre clear gas filter. I have it positioned so that the out end to the carb is pointing just slightly downward, then from there the fuel has to travel up to get to the carb. At he most there appears to be a half a teaspoon of gas at the outlet end, and this amount will go down to where it looks like there isn't enough to escape through the outlet but it keeps running. I also noticed that approx every 5 seconds a few drops of fuel are spit into the filter, then nothing, then a few more drops after another 5 second pause. I was wondering if there should be more fuel in the filter, and if the fuel pump may not be pushing enough fuel......Thanks

Fuel filter/fuel question

Have you got it out on the road yet? I would be suspicious, but if it runs ok wide open throttle up a hill, I would just keep an eye on it. They do usually run filled more than that, usually 3/4 full with a little air bubble on top or completely full.

Fuel filter/fuel question

Do you have dual tanks? If so switch tanks and see if the filter fills any more than before...I had the same problem a while back and It would seem there was a problem with the metal line comming from the front tank to the fuel tank selector valve. It would allow enough gas to flow but would eventually stall the truck...could hardly see anything in the glass filter same as you...I routed around it with some fuel line and it runs great now... When I get time I'll remove the metal line and replace it...

I have one of those filters also. I run two filters, but the clear (spectre?) one is between the metal hose and the fuel pump. It's always full.
