I've posted about this before. I finally got around to hooking it up. I did it a diff way then everyone recommened and just wanted to see if it is okay. My friend thought it would work and I just wanted to get it done. WE had isntalled my lift earlier so i was pretty tired.
I ran the wire straight to the battery but put a fuse(30) between the battery and the choke. Is this safe?
I turned the truck on only for a few mintues to move it and park it for the night. It was idling higher like it was tyring to warm up so I think it was working. I'll be able to test it out more tomorrow when I actually go to drive it.
so that means the choke is running all the time! it will drain the battery or cause a fire. when running there is a metered vacuum to cool the choke, with it off it will get way to hot.
why not just do it right? and hook it to the stator terminal on the alternator?
I haven't it ran it long so I can fix it when I get up.
Whats the starter terminal? Is that were the postive of the battery goes to a silver box and then to the starter? Where do I hook it on alt? I just wasn't sure where to hook it up at.
I'm not sure if my alt i same as pictured. All mine had was bolts sticking out with nuts. So, I pulled the lower bottom nut off and put my wire on then nutted it back.
Need help fast! Its stuck in the driveway and wont turn over.
Go back to square one and get everything hooked up except the carb, get your engine to turn over then mess with the e-choke.
I believe, all you need is a "keyed" hot wire for your choke. Check the electrical forum, I know there are a few threads in there on wiring an electric choke. If you need more help, just post back.
