has anyone just deleted the muffler on their psd. i have a 2000 F-250 CC and i want to get rid of the stock muffler and dont want to spend $400 on an exhaust. is it as simple as taking out the muffler and putting a 3.5 inch pipe in or is there more to it
thanks for the help

00250Diesel,
My neighbor did this to his 1997 F-350. He said it does breathe easier and does sound good. I have a 2001 F-350 and got a exhaust kit with 4" downpipe/ 5" from there back. I did use the muffler that came with the kit. It sounds awesome, especially the whistle from the turbo! It is a little loud in the cab with the windows up though. I did it mainly to get rid of the hot exhaust from using the Super Chip while pulling 5th wheel. Hope this helps ya.

Tell u what...JMHO but i would remove your muffler and put in straight pipe as u
suggest...very easy to get a delete pipe...and install an Aeroturbine 3535L for significant EGT reduction and complete mid-range drone elimination. A little over
$200 for everything.
i want to keep my egts down from the chip i am running but i dont have the money to spend on an exhaust but im hoping for stacks in the future. are the older styles and newer the same exhaust routing. did he say how hard it was
thanks

$200 is still more than i can afford and i want it to be as loud as possible. is the aeroturbine a muffler or just a delete kit

The Aeroturbine is a muffler/resonator.u can get a delete pipe from muffler/exhaust repiar shops for min money. You'll get louder and probably add a very annoying drone that pervades the cab and makes it hard to talk at times.
Drives me up a wall. Happens when loading engine mostly.
Be careful running that chip w/o a bigger downpipe/exhaust. I dont think the muffler delete will lower your your EGT's that much. Save your $ for the bigger exhaust!

after looking at it more closely i noticed the inlet and outlet are offset. does anyone here have any ideas or pics on how they did theirs. would using 2 45 angles with a straight section of pipe work or would the 45s restrict the flow too much
Cut the muff off at the front of it. Go to your local big rig store and get a 3 1/2
turndown and clamp it on. This is the cheapest way to get that real loud turbo sound! I ran this way for a year with no probs. Now I have 5" stacks and I say get the stacks when you can. If you want loud you wont regreat it.
I am considering the same mod, I love the turbo whistle in the pipes, but I don't want a lot more cab noise, if you just run the straight pipe, how loud does it get, outside and in, has anybody made this mod, and can advise! Thanks and God Bless!
It's not loud enough to get a ticket, it just has a real good tone to it, and she whistles pretty good. With the straight pipe you can hear the exhaust in the cab and tell it's louder than stock but it's not annoying, i'd definatly do it, worth it all, plus your egt's will go down.
