It will be 2 weeks to the day tommorow that my "baby" got hit by that 16 year old kid. Checked on the progress of my repair this morning and was told NOTHING had been done as the repair shop had not recieved authrization to begin them. The shop claimed that they had made nurmorious calls to the insurance co but could not make contact. Well when the "trakman" got home, to make a long story short, they (the insurance co) sat up and took notice! I told them that this was rediculouse and I wanted some answers NOW! In 2 hours time, I got more done than in the last 2 weeks. Repairs have now been authorized, I have a rental pick-up (2005 F-150 CC 4WD...NICE but not even close to a PowerStroke) and the "trakman" is smiling again My truck should be done the latter part of next week.
recently had the same story with my 99 took em 2 months to get it all straight but it worked out sometimes you just have to be a little louder than usual
My local stealership did the same thing with my Ranger a few months ago. It sat on the lot for three weeks. They said the same thing about the insurance. I called the insurance company up and it appeared th e stealership was trying to triple the cost of the repair by making up a bunch of bogus damages. After I raised some hell and contacted the insurance fraud department I got my truck repaired for the original price plus the dealership paid my deductable.

Wow, isn't it hard to find a dang honest place of business anymore?!
Maybe that's why I'm so busy all the time. I'm honest and my business reputation is built on that. The cars that come in the door need enough work without me making up stories!

And if it wasn't 2282.2 miles or 35hrs and 6mins (http://maps.yahoo.com/dd_result?newa...wa&tcountry=us). to your place I'd be knocking when I needed some good mechin' done. Not that I have to tell you, cause you and those like you already know. You all are a dying breed. And we thank you for it.

same here... the small engine place i work for does good work for an honest price and only does work that needs to be done... we also call people when they might be looking at a repair bill that is more money than the lawnmower or snowblower is worth... and if someone comes in to buy a snowblower from me i tell them right up front that i don't make any kind of commission on anything they might buy... so when i tell them which snowblower or lawnmower is the best machine for the money and the job they need to do, they can believe i'm giving them the straight scoop... not alot of places around that do buisness like that anymore... we are building our customer base by providing good service in both the shop and in sales... you won't find that at HOME CHEAPO...!
Keep that up Johnny and you'll have people flocking to your door. That's what I do as well and I never have to pay for advertising any more. All word of mouth.
Wow. I didn't have any problems with my insurance. I had some knuckle head ram me. (Yeah, I do have that affect on people.) I took it to the Insurance man. He took some pictures. He took some notes. He asked me to wait a minute and he would be right back. He brought me a few sheets of paper and told me to take them and it to the body shop of my choice. I had my auto back in 4 or 5 days. $500 deductable. The insurance was out about 7 grand. No problems. And to think, I was going to shop around for cheaper insurance. Not me buddy.

I agree with you Kwik on the cars usually need more work then they thought. I do occasional work on friends cars and see that there's been stuff "let go" and not repaired. I'll give them a call if there's extra cost just due to new parts, labor's usually free unless it's a big job. I hate to see anything leaving my garage that still needs work. Plus, if that other problem crops up, they'll think it's my fault. When I retire, I'm think'n of opening my own little garage for spare change. I'm in no means a pro at car repair (which will be one of my disclaimers), but I do give SH-- about my work.
