Folks,

I recently purchased a '91 F250 diesel 4x4, automatic with an overdrive switch on the dash. What model transmission would this truck have? I ask because we noticed so strange behavior with the transmission whenever we hit a hill. Basically it would keep downshifting and upshifting repeatedly....I'd like to verify what i have so I can then start troubleshooting whats wrong.

Sounds Like U Should Have A E4od Trans. Its A 4 Speed Eletronically Controlled Overdrive Trans.

 

Im pretty sure its an e 40d you have also..i just put in a tranny in a 94 f 250 automatic and it was a e 40d .
