I just got a 1979 F-250 Super Cab and it needs a VIN Verification. I called CHP and they said there are two spots. The sticker in the door and a metal plate somewhere. I cannot find the metal plate. I'm not sure what i would have to do if i there isn't one there. Where is the metal plate supposed to be?
someone donated it as a tax write-off deal and so it has a junk title and the truck needs a VIN Verifcation, Insurance, and registered before it is cleared. And thanx
There is a metal plate on the driver door, a sticker on the driver side door jamb, and as g-hog mentioned, on the passenger side frame rail. My truck also had another metal plate located on the passenger side firewall, right above the heater hose inlet/outlet. It too had the VIN, and someone told me that it was called a buck tag(?).
Top of the passengerside frame rail. It is stamped in there, you may have to clean up the area to find it. It will be somewhere between the core support and firewall.
