tranny swap
I got a 73 F100. Right now, i have a 4 speed, but im lookin to put a 5 speed. are there any 5 speeds from later model ford that will bolt to a 360??? or are there any other ideas for better highway mileage??

I'm in the same boat. '73 F100 2wd 390 4spd. The only 5 speed option is a nv4500 out of a '96 or newer Dodge pickup with a adapter plate. A trans is $700-$1000 plus new clutch, adapter and custom driveshaft will all run you about $1500. That's too much for me right now. The other options are a external overdrive unit (again $1000-$1500) or higher rear gears (but you loose some 'off the line' power). Search through past threads in this forum and the 67-72 forum and you will get lots of guys that have done these swaps.
