I replaced them on my 79 f150 4x4 about 2 years ago.
I ordered them from a ford dealership. They are
rivited on from the factory so you will need to grind,
drill or torch them out.

My rear leaf spring hanger was rusted right thru
The helper spring hit its pad and rode on there for a bit, I cut one off of a 77 highboy I parted out
Weldman how much did you pay for those super singles ? cheapest I can find is like $225, its a awesome looking rim, the polish job they do on em is great but kinda pricey, the american racing outlaw II is only like $100, but I know it dont look nearly as good as the welds you have, I want those wheels but my girlfreind would go nuts if I blew that kinda money on wheels, whens shes wanted rims for a year now, but she has nice factory alloys I have junky steel wheels
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-Nov-01 AT 04:52 PM (EST)]Otto: I bought them for $225 about 4 years ago I believe. On Weld Racing's website, they have gone up to $257, so if your getting them for $225 now, I think you're getting a pretty good deal.
Of course, mine were 16.5 x 8.25, 8 on 6.5 bolt pattern. I think that the 16 x 8's are the same price.
They are worth every penny, they MADE the truck! Now everybody wants to buy it off me! Nu-unh!
The SS II's are forged two piece. I know the outlaw 2's are one piece, but are they forged?
Since the outlaw's are clearcoated and the welds aren't, the outlaw's would last longer in the winter I believe. I put the stock steelies on in the winter.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-Nov-01 AT 07:26 PM (EST)]The SS II definately makes the truck, you have one of the best looking trucks here I love the 2 tone and the wheels, I think im going to buy a wheel and tire package from some guys out of the four wheeler magazine $1600 whew
But like you said they make the truck so I have to have them, their the best looking wheel out there in my opinion, I dont care for any of the others with the designs and what not
Thanks for the comments Otto.....Always nice to have the Ford appreciated!
You've probably seen the eagle 589/mickey thompson wheel that loosely resembles the SS II. Might be what you're looking for, if its available for your app. I've seen these in person and they are very nice as well. The center of the wheel is curved out to meet the rim, and is a one piece wheel. Of course, I am biased towards Weld Racing wheels!
What truck application and rim size/pattern are we working on here?
8x6.25, and yea I seen the eagle and m/t wheels and they dont look as good as the welds, and if I bought the cheap A/R rims, I would save a whole what maybe $300, no thanks I'll spend the extra loot and smile when I see my wheels not think of "what I could have had"
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 27-Nov-01 AT 00:07 AM (EST)]Yep otto, ya get what ya pay for with these wheels. Ya gotta just bite the bullet! When I got mine, I spent my entire summers wages on wheels, mcgard lugs and locks and hub covers.
If the lovely Ford dealership cant help, you might want to try makin your own or have some fab'd out of angle iron. Works pretty good and strong as ever, great for the cheapo's like me also. Just lay out a template of the holes, drill it, and bolt it on.
