? weird engine noise, '06 6.8
This is a new one on me. 50mph @ 1500 rpm, trans in top gear (converter locked) light throttle apply it sounds like someone is blowing in a moonshine jug under the hood. First time it happened after 6 hours of highway running I thought it was a semi using the jake brake but it was my truck making the noise. It returns to quiet operation over 55 mph then starts up again about 82 mph (closed course :~) ). Now it does it all the time at 50 mph once the engine gets hot. I cannot find out where its comming from when I check because it only does it when its moving. My thoughts are that it may be some sort of emission valve by passing air somehow but I have not been able to find anything yet.
