A guy near me is selling what he claims to be a 3/4 ton front axle out of his 78 bronco. He has no idea if the axle is stock or where it came from, but for some reason continues to call it a 3/4 ton axle. From my limited axle id-ing ability i can tell you this: It seems to be high pinion, the third member looks to me like it's from the dana family, it's 8 lug, and it is open knuckle. What is this thing? I would be mrore than happy to post pictures if it would help. The id tag off the diff reads as follows:
4 09 D9TA BCB
610068-3

Hope this helps, information is from "The Hollander Identification Manual" 57th Edition.
If it's 8 lugs, then at least part of it came off a 3/4 ton truck. It may be a HD dana 44 from an F-250, or someone may have swapped the spindle, knuckle, rotor, and caliper off a 3/4 ton Dana 44.
Since subford's source says it came from an F-150, it's just the outside stuff that came from an F-250.
