New process is a 4 speed, at least the 435 is. There was a Mazda 5 speed, which came in the F150's, and there is the ZF 5 speed that came in the F250's and up. ZF's website lists the ZF in 351 F150's in 88 only, so that might be a possibility as well.
Yeah, I keep hearing that in 1988, you could get an F-150 with a 351 and a ZF 5 speed. I've yet to see one, or hear of anyone with one. Not saying it never happened, though.
I've seen it in about a dozen other places, too. Napa parts catalogs, web sites, etc. It's sometimes called a M5OD-HD. Not that there's any such thing, but that's what I assume it references.
In a way, that was on topic there Gameover. I was telling how the ZF is a great transmission, and if you will read the other fella's posts you will get more information on the transmission.
That is what I am doing. A freshly rebuilt ZF, new 351, and while I am at it, I am rebuilding an 8.8. New trucks don't have all of the option that I want for a price that I want, so I am making my toy truck from a 94.
I like the gearing of the ZF and if you read around here, the reputation will speak for itsself.
