I knew there was a connection, "Ford-Edsel".... you said so yourself! I wonder whose wheel needs to be greased before Ford will link to your site?
Kidding aside, the more we get into this issue the less clear it's become. [/FONT]:-)
I haven't doubted you guys for a second on what "FE" stands for. The only connection I was making was that it seemed to be credible info (even for a website) as to which engines were available in the Edsel. That being said, you are absolutely right about it getting more confusing. I have more questions now than I had before, like why some of the other obvious FE engines weren't shown as options in the Edsel. Well anyways, I'm sticking with you knee deep in the gravy on the meaning of "FE". I just hope the next main course isn't crow.

You know i'm just going to say that Ford is definitly the best....they are the only company that engine parts are interchangeable between completely different blocks.
I dont want to get into all of it now. Also with FORD you get the Smallest Big Block there is weight-wise...believe it or not its the mighty FE FORD EDSEL
and the biggest smallblock in the windsor..its proven up to over 450 ci when stroked.
TOo Bad they went away from the FORD ENGINE BLUE in the mid 80's...I love seing that blue under the hood.
no orange.
according to "High Performance Ford Engune Parts Interchange" writing by George Reid FE stands for FORD ENGINE not FORD EDSEL which some people thought it stood for. I hope this helps you. If you have any other questions about any other ford motors you might go to your local book store and pick-up a copy. It covers in deepth just about any ford motor from the first FE to recent 5.0 & 351. The cost is about $20 but is well worth it.
Not to be a party pooper but that interchange book is riddled with errors and misinformation. It does have some nice pics though. Food for thought: When these old engines were designed during the Y-Block development program, the MEL engines were originally released for the Mercury/Edsel/Lincoln division. It makes sense that the other engine originally released for the Ford/Edsel division would be called the FE. After all, aren’t they all engines anyway?
The c-word shouldnt even come into play on this web site. I thought we took care of this before hand. By all mean, if you to put a C- engine in your ford, you will have to live with yourself and always wonder.... "I could have had more torque, more horsepower but beings Im hung up on a c- engine, I have to settle for second best." Thats alright, That will be more for us.

why does MR. PAYNE have to come to the rescue of us senior members who are being doubted?????
LOL
I may not no everything but stuff i dont know i dont care about!
Speaking of Edsel i saw someone near by here trailoring an edsel that must have been in the bush somewhere...it was complete..needed paint. and had NO RUST! thats amazing for something in Canada here!..Even my 89 Tempo has rampant rust accumulating...well..it looks like its paint spots on the rust.

390, I am gonna post on his behalf, even though he don't need my help. Ken Payne is a Ford truck owner, a real FTE, his truck can be seen in the picture section along with the hundreds of others. He is more reserved, and not a bucket mouth. I think he likes to pitch a snow ball like the rest of us, when the need arises. The thing is, he can do it and not use a flame thrower, and not cause all out war, and you will still call him Mr Payne. :-)
That is just My Humble Opinion. ;-)

In the still cool hours of the night, you can hear chevys rusting away.
Yeah, I like throwing snowballs. The problem is in my case, I sometimes get a little too sarcastic. It does help us to liven things up around here. That's one of the reasons why I'm considering relaxing the language rules a little in the General Conversation forum.
