A good short block source?

Alright, my poor abused engine is in need of a new block from what I have found out. Long story but if you want to hear it I can write it.

Anyways I am looking for a good source for shortblocks for a 351 windsor. I do not know if years matter, but I would guess 82-86. Non fuel injected, and no smog.
I am not looking on spending a bunch of money, but I want to know if anyone know of strokers, or simmiler that you can buy for a good price. Somthing good for street power.
Otherwise I am going with the stock compression, bore, and stroke if I find nothing for a good price. Looking for under $1200.

Anyone have a good source?
Thanks.

i have a great source. but why do you only want a short block? long block with a warranty is the way to go.

Yes but I will end up with aftermarket cam, and heads, so the warrenty will be gone when I do that.

Huh, 6 or 8? WHat would be the major difference?
And thanks for the really quick reply.

well if you are going to use new heads don't worry. you can take those brand new heads and sell them for a easy 300.00 and make a nice return on your investment.

you want HO? or not?

you can get this

for $1144.00 it is for a 69-74 ford car , should be higher compression and a good starting point

Okay I am new here, but I can wrench. What would be the difference in Ford's HO? And would it even make a difference if the engine is for a car or truck?

I was thinking the same exact thing. I notice I could get a fair long block for not much more, and then I also figured I could turn around and sell the heads, and cam.
