Angry cracked Rim

I had a tire losing air so when I had the tires rotated today I had them check it out and they found a crack in the rim. It starts fron the outside and goes toward the center for about a inch. It started leaking about a week ago. The tires were installed last summer. Has anyone else had this problem. The rim is the eight hole polished Al. factory. A used rim is from 100 to 125.

I've not seen this problem reported by others. Not knowing where the crack is located makes it a bit difficult to speculate on the casue. Either you or someone else driving banged it real good at some point or their was some casting porostiy that finally caused it to crack. I would be interested in a photo of the crack if you can post one.

Since many folks replace these rims, finding a nice set shouldn't be too difficult. Most I've seen are in the $200.00/set range w./o tires and $400/set with tires. Problem is, you will likely have to buy a complete set. I've got two extras rims that aren't in the best of shape but they aren't cracked. You are welcome to one of them. Just cover shipping. It may polish up but I haven't tried yet. I can send a picture if you are interested. PM me if you would like a photo.

There is a photo of my 03 in my gallery under the 1950 F1 album. The photo shows me towing it home. I haven't checked but you may be able to see the style rims on my truck to make sure they are the same as yours.

I'll take a picture of it tomorrow and try to post. I have not hit anything and looking at the rim it is not bent any where it is cracked. I do not know if it could have been cracked when they changed the tire and it took a few months and miles to staart leaking or what happened.

Those are a different style than mine so my extra won't help you much.

Wow. I've never seen that before.

Thanks for the offer Texan2004 to bad its a different type rim. I've got one on order and it will be here by the end of the week. The spare is steel but it would be nice to have one that matched the rest of the wheels. I whish I knew what caused it but I don't.
