2004 6.0 Fuel Issues
I have talked with a Diesel shop here and they have told me that I should use a Diesel Fuel Additive called Stanadyne, they seem to be the only people that I have talked to that is not trying to get into my pocket $$$ they did say that the fuel filters (Frame mounted and Engine mounted) is very important with this engine as it would cost about $4000 to do a fuel injector service on this engine, I am assuming that is a complete repair.
I am also told that the fuel supply is not as good and clean as it once was. I know that I have found water in two stations here in the local area,
My problem that started all this was the WATER IN FUEL light, and the problem can be corrected by removing the housing cover and cleaning it out very good, I used GUMOUT, and I also checked the sensor out, it is the black one in the housing, the brown one is the heater, the gray plug goes to the pump,
Any one that has this problem that wants more details can send me an email.
But I highly recommend using the Stanadyne, and change the filters often, as it was told to me this is a small price to pay to protect a $10,000 engine or a $4000 service on the injectors.
First, welcome to FTE!
Second, you may want to post this down in the 6.0 Forum, as it will be more user oriented than it will up here in the SD Forum. This tends to be general discussion for anything and everything SD.
See ya around,
