Let's just say, things have changed for me financially and I'm trying to save wherever I can right now, but would rather scrape together the extra $$$ for M1 if I'm going to bring any engine problems upon myself by switching. Need the truck to keep going. Thanks
deano2, if you want to save even more $$ and have a Dollar Tree in the area, look for the Phillips 66 Semi synthetic blend. At $1.00 qt and it has more Gp III synthetic in the blend than most and has a great add package as well, it's darn hard to beat. It would be my pick over the MC, and for me, if it weren't for availabilty problems, I would run it in mine all of the time. Great oil at a great price.
They are not identical oils. The Phillips Gp III basestock is from Korea where the MC is a European basestock (Hydroclear). The Phillips will have more (25-30% prox) synthetic versus the MC (10-15%). Both are great oils. The last time I was in a Dollar tree, they still had it. But I also don't have just down the road either. Might be worth the trip if they do still have it.
Ok, thanks guys. I will switch away from M1. I do have a Dollar Tree in my neck of the woods. I'll stop in and see if they have the Phillips 66 stuff. If not, I'll check Wal Mart. I know I can get MC 5w20 semi at Wal mart, that's where I priced it and 6qts = $9.00. Thanks again, I learn more in this forum than anywhere else.
Motorcraft should be fine for a 5K interval. I like synthetics for extended drains and very cold climates, but I don't believe they are necessary otherwise.
