Engine temperature sensor location?
Ever since I bought my 78 F350 dually with the 460 motor I have been looking for the location of the engine temperature sensor. I have located a wire that has a small "L" shaped connector on it on the drivers side. This wire is disconnected and wrapped around the metal brake line, but I don't know if this is the wire for the temperature sensor and was unplugged because the sensor went bad, or if the wire needs to be connected to something else. The temperature gauge inside the truck has never worked and I would really like to have it working. Last week when I replaced the carb I looked all over the intake and the sides of the engine for the temperature sensor but didn't find anything. I would appreciate it if someone could describe what the temperature sensor looks like, and where I might find it, and also if I do have one how do you test them to see if they actually work......Thanks,
Pat.
stickong out of it located near the distributor on the intake manifold.
When installing this sdevice it should have special compound that seals and allows for grounding to the metal.
Available a auto parts store.
