Bilstein Shock installation Tips

Hey guys....Have a 2001 F250 4 x 4 Just to refresh.
Got some Bilstein Shocks for Christmas for stock height.

First i want to confirm i have the right part numbers and shocks:
BE5-2828-HO Fronts i believe
BE5-2819-HO Rears i believe

I will probably be installing this week...so figured i would ask if any tips, advice, tricks...etc etc That any of you guys have done or easiest way to do them vs another way. Like Leave truck on ground when changing or truck on jackstands ?, Any specific torque specs on any or all the bolts/nuts? Should grease the bushings or anything? If so what is best type of grease to do that.
Or anything else to add..please do.
Thanks
Tony

"Never Seize" on the bolts. No need to jack it up.

i would spray the bolts and nuts with penetrating oil now, that way the bolts aren't a pain to get off when you want them to get off the most.

Not sure about the 2001 but on my '99 the front shock was 2818 not 2828.

the fronts are easy...stand by for the backs. once they extend oh man trying to compress them and get it to go over the stud is a pita..trust me.

To do the backs I removed the spare tire and sat under the truck with my legs crossed, facing the shock mount. Mounted the to first so I could "curl" it up with both hands. I'm no Arnie, so it took some doing.

My 2000 Crew 4x4 has 59k on it, I think its past due for a set of shocks. Where is the best/cheap place to buy four Bilsteins???

Jeff in NM...OUT

Some call it a six pack, I call it a support group...

About a year ago, the best deal I could find was on eshocks.com. $64.95/each and free shipping. It came out to about $20/each cheaper than getting them anywhere locally (indianapolis).

I've used a ratchet type tie down to compress the shock to the correct length before trying to install it. Bilsteins are very hard to compress if you don't have the upper body strength while on your back under the truck. The tie down method works well for shocks with eyes on both ends.

Ditto on spraying everything with PB Blaster or similar a couple days ahead of time.

I have an Excursion so not sure if is the same mount, but I used small hydraulic bottle jack to compress the rear shocks. Worked really well.
