Intresting never thought much about what designations on vehicles means. I alway just assumed it was to help the parts counter men find the correct applications.
Don't know about the 'F' but the 'C' stands for Cab over or COE, the 'T' Stands for tandem, and the 'P' stands for Parcel delivery. I just thought the F stood for Ford.

Lol. Nicely put. I would tend to think that the F just stands for Ford, and the M stands for Mercury. Much like the Dodge trucks that all started with D.

AXracer, Why is the panel truck an F-100? Probably, because the it is just like the rest of the F-series, and their was only one panel truck built the F-100, while the others have multiple trucks in their series,
